Climate Extreme Temps have Declined
Timothy Birdnow
Guess what? Contrary to the claims by the climate alarmists and their brain-damaged models temperature extremes have
actually declinedsince 18j99.
Here is the abstract from this new paper by Nobel-Prize-winning climatologist John Christy:
Knowledge of temperature extremes, and their potential changes within a climate system of increasing greenhouse gases, is of vital interest for humans and the infrastructure which supports them. To produce a better understanding of how daily extreme temperatures have changed over time in the conterminous US (CONUS), the United States Historical Climate Network (USHCN) database was extended back to 1899 and forward to 2025. The original 1,218 stations, selected in the 1980s by NOAA as capable of addressing climate concerns, have since been neglected - almost half of the stations have closed since 2000. Incomplete station records were supplemented with nearby stations with high correlation and removeable biases to provide time series for 1,211 of the stations with at least 92% of data present. Extreme temperature metrics for summer daily maximum temperatures and winter daily minimum temperatures were calculated. The general result is that metrics for extreme summer heat, e.g., hottest values, number of heatwave days, etc., show modest negative trends since 1899. Extreme cold temperature metrics also indicate a decline in their occurrences especially since the 1990s. In sum, instances of both hot and cold extreme metrics have declined since 1899. To demonstrate an application of this dataset we examined the claims of one source regarding changing temperature extremes, The National Climate Assessment 5.
We've been told that one of the fingerprints for carbon dioxide-driven warming is greater extremes in temperature and yet this data says no way Jose.
Of course, as Dr. Christy points out, the temperature stations have been neglected and "data smoothed" and this is why the entire thing is in doubt; we can't trust the datasets coming out of NOAA and NASA. So will the alarmists now criticize the data they've used to predict catastrophe' for all these years, or admit their theory has problems?
No, they will try to simply ignore this and pretend it's not happening.

The Phoniness of Peer Review
Timothy Birdnow
This from Christ Martz, Senior meteorologist at Millersville University:
Peer-review is not a part of real science. Period.
The peer-review system, as it exists in its current form, has only existed since the 1970s (maybe 1960s in some cases). It is a relatively modern academic gatekeeping process, not an ancient pillar of science. Issac Newton, Galileo, Charles Darwin, and even Einstein's work (specifically, his four Annus Mirabilis papers in 1905) were all written or published without "peer-review.”
Science advances with evidence, replication, and falsifiability. "Peer-reviewers” typically do none of the above things when reading over a paper submitted to an academic journal. Reviewers are just anonymous "experts” that stamp approval for any papers they happen to agree with and reject ones that challenge their own biases.
But as I have previously said, any of my online critics that demand I publish a paper in a journal can pay me to do it themselves. I am not an academic. I am not a federal employee. I work in the private sector. It is not reasonable to expect me to drop thousands of dollars on a paper to cover paywalled data access fees and a journal's submission and/or publication fee(s). Either put your own money where your mouth is, or shut up about it and drop the stamp-collecting credentialism.
I don't need a M.S. or Ph.D. to analyze data or assess claims made by scientists and find errors in them. For hundreds of years, valid science happened outside of peer-reviewed journals because they simply didn't exist, at least in modern form. I also do not believe in using taxpayer dollars to conduct scientific research via NSF grants, etc.
Just because something has been "peer-reviewed” does not mean it is accurate.
And just because something hasn't been subject to academic circle jerks doesn't mean it isn't valid.
Your peers agreeing with your ideas does not make your theory valid.
"Peer-review” approval not the arbiter of truth.
It's gatekeeping because people are biased, scientists included.

60 Minutes Admits Iran has Weaponized Uranium
Timothy Birdnow
The mainstream media knows the truth.
60 Minutes
@60Minutes
It’s believed Iran has enough highly enriched uranium to make at least 10 nuclear bombs. What would it take for the U.S. to secure it? Sunday, 60 Minutes reports on a past covert mission code-named Project Sapphire that could be a blueprint for a similar operation in Iran.
So how can it be they are demanding Trump end military action? How do you just dismiss ten nuclear bombs in the hands of people who fund terrorism around the globe and do so openly and unapologetically?
On Facebook an idiot recently said "who are we to tell Iran they can't have nuclear bombs. Why shouldn't they?" I replied that they can't have nuclear bombs for the same reason you don't give ten year old boys glocks to play with. Their pattern of behavior tells us they cannot be trusted with them. The fact is France or Britain or South Africa (who used to have them probably) or even Pakistan and India have shown themselves to be trustworthy in not using them. (I wish Pakistan didn't have them but they do.) But Iran? Iranians believe in the 12th Imam and can't wait for Armageddon. It's a doomsday cult running the country and they are eager to precipitate the final war. You can't let people like that possess these sorts of weapons any more than you can let a rapist hang out in women's locker rooms.
Duh.
This is the most venial of reasons to oppose the Administration in their fight to disarm Iran - politics. This is the sort of thing that will lead them into the depths of Antenorra, the place of traitors to kin and country in Dante's Inferno.

Zelensky Wants to Erase Ukraine with Immigrants
Timothy Birdnow
This is complete madness.
So Zelensky is just going to hand his country over to a bunch of Third World Muslims.
The head of the Presidential Office, the cartoonishly named Kyrylo Budanov (too bad his name wasn't Boris) announced the new scheme to import "migrants" to deal with the Ukrainian labor shortage. If anyone thinks these "migrants" will return home he is kidding himself. This is the Islamification of Ukraine.
The article states:
Kuleba said Ukraine has to focus on people "who need this country and are ready to rebuild it.” These people exist, he said, although they are in the minority, then indicating that the only solution is to bring in migrants.
These migrant newcomers will also need adequate housing, wages and a working environment to make them choose Ukraine. However, it is questionable how a country whose economy and state administration are in ruins as a result of war could handle mass immigration from the Third World. Unlike how migration was marketed, many of the migrants who came to Western Europe have ended up draining state coffers through social welfare, education, housing, and integration. In Germany, for instance, foreigners cost the government nearly €50 billion in 2023.
They mention immigration from Asia, which means Muslims in Progspeak. These will be from Syria and Iraq and probably places like Turkmenistan.
The only good thing is it will be hard to recruit economic immigrants; the Portuguese tried and failed miserably because their economy is a basket case and the Muslim immigrants only wanted to live in a rich place where they could feed off the fat of the land.
This is just national suicide.

Congress Should Declare War on Iran
Timothy Birdnow
We are about to run up against the War Powers Act. The WPA (which was an acronym from the Great Depression meaning Works Progress Administration, often sneeringly referred to as "We Piddle Around") sets time limits for the President to take foreign military action before seeking a resolution from Congress. Trump is approaching that deadline and if Congress fails to act he will be forced to end the war with Iran.
That is what the Iranian regime is counting on.
What I would like to know is, why doesn't Congress act? The Congress declares war, and John Thune and Mike "Tiny" Johnson could and should promote a war declaration now, not when the ciris hits. So why isn't they?
Johnson could maybe get one through and guys like Thomas Massie would be hard pressed to vote against it given the entire argument he and his anti-war ilk have made is based on Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. A war declaration would eliminate his entire argument. He would be forced to argue against it based on other considerations, such as degree of difficulty. But that would be a harder sell, much harder. Trump has already shown we can do it, we just need the time.
Another consideration is the Senate. While the Constitution says you only need a simple majority in the Senate the reality is, with the "zombie filibuster" the Democrats could veto it without a Supermajority (and getting a simple majority might prove difficult). Naturally John Thune won't change the rules for it to pass. If he would just require a talking filibuster he might be able to get it but Thune refuses to do so. He has to go.
At any rate somebody needs to introduce War Declaration bills and now. Make these jerks vote on it.
Iran has been wise in not hitting us with a big terrorist attack, I might add. It's in their interest to do so and they have sleepers here, but it would put great pressure on these war dove types to support the President and Iran appears aware of that. Also, with the DHS funding issue in play, it would humiliate the Democrats and likely prevent them from winning in November. Iran is playing the long game and rightly so.
That's why they are stalling so much.
The Founding Fathers built a series of checks and balances into our government to address conditions of the day and they worked beautifully and still serve us. However, they could not forsee America becoming the World's lone superpower and the need for speed. Back then communications were slow and state governments were very important and we had a great ocean between us and our nearest enemies and so they sought to slow down and gum up the works in the Federal government precisely to make the states strong and the People stronger. It was wise, but unfortunately what they put in place is now strangling decisive action and long term commitment. Our political system punishes careful, long term strategizing. We are the hare in the tortoise and the hare. We have the power to move quickly but just as quickly stop and graze. Iran is playing the tortoise now and we are about to be stopped in finishing them off by our own rules.
For the record I am not a war hawk and I oppose any action by the U.S. in places like the Ukraine or other such spots. But there are some things that cannot be tolerated, that require military action. Iran has been asking for it for a long, long time and Trump is trying to affect real change. He could just kick the can down the road again but that would be foolish. But it would be politically expedient.
I don't want to make fundamental changes that empower our government, on the contrary I want our government restricted as much as possible. But the War Powers Act is probably unconstitutional and I don't know why Trump hasn't made an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court over it by now. And I don't know why his allies haven't introduced a declaration of war; at least it would force Congress to vote yea or nay and show where everybody stands.
If Trump is not allowed to finish the job we will always have to be looking over our shoulders. Iran will wait patiently and pay us back, make no mistake about it. When someone threatens you you can either run, hide, or beat the crap out of them. Iran is threatening us and has for a long time. We've hidden mostly. That has been a failed strategy. Now we only have the option of beating the crap out of them. Running is impossible and now hiding is too.

Gone with the Setting Sun
Timothy Birdnow
How Britain went from
Great to Lesser after opening their borders and flooding their country with aliens who refuse to assimilate. (Thank you Tony Blair.)
Quoting former Theresa May Chief of Staff Nick Timothy:
"not every culture is equal.” Newcomers must accept Britain’s way of life—its common law, its secular public square, its literary and artistic inheritance—or be required to leave. The alternative is communalism, the Balkanization of the body politic into parallel societies whose loyalties lie elsewhere."
fin
And that last sentence encapsulates perfectly the concept of multiculturalism which was born in academia and promoted so heavily through the eighties and nineties by universities and other citadels of Leftism.
I was in college between '83 and '87 and remember it gearing up then. At first I assumed this was just a way to celebrate the diverse cultures that came together to create the American melting pot but was soon dissuaded; I realized it was rather about promoting entirely different cultures to coexist in the same space while remaining completely separate. That worked so well in the Balkans, after all, but here I had professors singing the praises of multiculturalism as a panacea to all the world's ills. Sadly most of my fellow students didn't see that.
The Bible says you cannot serve two masters; you will hate one and love the other. Culture is our master and if we have to choose which one to serve we will naturally hate the other.
Almost every multicultural nation on Earth has problems, and the more close their quarters the worse they are. The Balkans are the obvious example, as is Lebanon (which was once a truly multicultural nation but is now pretty much an Islamic hellhole), but there are many other places - British India led to a civil war upon independence and Pakistan and India today despise each-other, The whole of Africa is at each-other's throats, etc. Even Canada has considerable tension between Quebec and everyone else and the only reason there hasn't been a really nasty split is because Quebec is pretty much homogenous and the other Provinces keep a healthy distance, that and the fact that Canadians developed the ultra-politeness as a mechanism to keep anger from spilling over into their society.
Multicultural nations ultimately only exist as empires - held together by military force of a dominant power. Russia was such and is so today. Ditto China as there are different ethnicities among Chinese, the majority being Han.
Europe, and particularly Britain, avoided this trap. The British People already WERE multiethnic - English, Scot, Welch, Saxons, Danes, Irish, etc. but they created a nation that was uniform in culture by and large and where everyone was happy with the "rights of British" guaranteed by the Magna Carta and other documents. The point is they were originally an empire ruled by England but became a truly integrated society. But no longer as multiculturalism has destroyed the bonds between British citizens and turned the once great Britain into a multicultural pigpen.
If you need a case study in how multiculturalism ruins a nation look no further than the Hapsburgs. They once ruled much of Europe under the "Holy Roman Empire" which encompassed Germany as well as Austria and the lion's share of eastern Europe. Napoleon drove them out of most of Germany, ending the First Reich, and the Prussians took the territory once help by the Austrians. But eastern Europe was still theirs and they wound up needing help with it, thus partnering with the Hungarians, forming the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
This empire sucked and always did not because it was badly run or any more abusive than any other kingdom at that time but because it was chock-full of people who hated it. It was an amalgamation of different peoples - Germans, Hungarians, Slavs, Gypsies, and a lot of Jewish folk, and all of them had no connection at all except their hatred for the governing class of Austrians and Hungarians. That was the one uniting factor, hatred of Vienna.
And while 18th century Vienna was known as an elegant, cultured place it became increasingly cosmopolitan and by extension increasingly seedy as it filled with every manner of peoples from around the continent. It became known as a truly decadent place.
And all the while the governed peoples grew increasingly restive. In the southern provinces, the Balkans, there were revolutionary movements and hatred boiling over, hatreds that had existed well before the coming of Austro-Hungary. (Those hatred would re-emerge after Marshall Tito died and his iron grip on the region was gone.) When Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a Serbian national (Serbia had never been absorbed by Austria but a lot of Serbs lived there) the Austro-Hungarian government invaded Serbia to capture and prosecute the assassin Gavrilo Princip it triggered a bunch of mutual protection alliances and thus WWI. At the onset Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph admitted it was the end for his country and it was.
They couldn't hold so diverse a territory without being militarily strong enough to compel the peace between the warring locals.
So countries like Britain or the U.S. or Germany or France began letting in aliens under the theory that "diversity is our strength" when history suggested otherwise, and this experiment has now led to the immanent dissolution of many of these nations. In the end the people just don't have anything to hold them together. You cannot have two cultures existing in the same space. The People will love one and hate the other, just as Jesus said they would.
The United States was a particularly interesting case as it has ALWAYS let diverse peoples come in - with the caveat they become Americans. That is why in times past some ethnic groups came here and were disliked as not out of our tradition but became some of the best we had because they all sought to become more American than Americans. (Italians and Irish come to mind). There were always specific benchmarks that had to be met; learn English, accept our laws and customs, work hard and earn your way.
Multiculturalism flies in the face of that. It demands the culture accept the immigrants not as a possible new American but as they are - with their cultural baggage and ethic squabbles. As the saying went back in the eighties and early nineties, America was becoming less a melting pot and more a salad. Well, salads are sometimes indigestible to people with weaker stomachs.
Cultures are not all the same and while American culture was not perfect it was far better than many of these places. We had an immigration system that let in few people through the twentieth century and those we let in had to come from nations with close cultural ties to the U.S. Ted Kennedy changed all that with his immigration reform bill in 1965, opening the door, nay, giving preference to Third World countries and thus breaking the relative cultural homogenaity. Couple that with the declining valuation of American culture by the leftists who controlled public education and you had the perfect storm for the breakup of American society.
We've been lucky because we had a high population and were able to restrain the immigration levels to a rational degree up until the 21st century. And our federal system made it much more difficult to place the sources of infection around the nation. Oh, and we've had Trump. But Europe has had the E.U. which is never, ever going to change hands and become concerned about saving the cultures that make up it's confederation. The whole point of the E.U. was to break the nation state, nothing more. It is the ultimate empire.
At any rate Britain is toast and I see no way it can come back. Only God Himself can save the Queen or anyone else. Britain has gone down with the setting sun.

No Joke
Timothy Birdnow
Saul Alinsky said "ridicule is man's most potent weapon" and that's why leftists hate comedy; they know it is a double-edged sword that can cut them.
This is proof the Left won the war, or believes it has, and are now trying to consolidate power. In the old days they would tolerate, even promote, some humor (like George Carlin) that was actually funny as long as it did not go after them. But now there is no humor at all; watch The Daily Show and see if you get so much as a wry chuckle. You won't.
That's because they can't allow people to laugh much lest they start laughing at THEM.
It is also a psychological tool to break down the resistance of the individual to their programs. Humor was God's great gift to Mankind to deal with tragedy and loss and suffering. Get rid of that and you "rub raw the wounds of discontent" as Alinsky also advocated. An angry populace is a divided populace and one willing to accept a radical solution.
So humor has to go. And the Left is doing their level best to stamp it out.
The best way to fight the Left is to turn this tool against them - laugh at them. Do it often, do it publicly, do it loudly. Don't let the bounds of socials convention act to restrain you in this because such bounds are being used as a weapon by the Left to disarm us. They have pushed the Overton Window far to the Left and we need to start pushing it back to the Right and the only way we will do that in our culture is to make people laugh. And let's face it; they are ridiculously funny!
There are a lot of Christian Conservatives who won't do this on the theory that it is unchristian but remember we are not laughing at people necessarily but at hypocritical and ridiculous IDEAS and those who engage in the Kabuki theater to promote them. A bearded ma who insists on going out in public in a little girl's nightgown has to be laughed at - there is no better response, and indeed he wore the thing with the intent of shocking and attracting this very sort of attention.
The Soviets did this all the time, putting forth some ridiculous proposition and daring people to deny it. It was a pure power play; everyone would be too scared to say anything, thus reinforcing the lesson that the Party had the power, and in fact most would go along with the insanity, which made them party to the lie and thus helped wed them to the notion that reality is fungible and can be changed by the command of the Party. It was how they could tell their sleeper agents that America was dirt poor and oppressed and these agents could come here and live in what to the average Soviet citizen was fabulous luxury and still believe it. It's a brainwashing technique. Oh, and it WORKS! The Soviets actually used Three Stooges shorts and claimed Moe was an example of how a capitalist boss treated his employees! And some believed it because it was either believe it or admit your hypocrisy in PRETENDDING to believe it.
So humor is one of the first casualties in any leftist revolution. And the Left in this country feels confident enough in their long-term victory to begin implementing the suppression of humor.
And that's no joke.

Apologies for Light Blogging
Sorry for light posting today. I had to go to the dermatologist and have a very odd-looking mole excorcized from my back. Out demon mole! They said it looked "funny" and while they couldn't say it was cancer they couldn't say it wasn't.
So to be safe they cut it out.
At any rate I had a busy day and hadn't slept last night so took a nap that stretched out several hours.
The surgeon said it was unlikely this would be any cause for worry but it was worth removing lest it turn ugly. As a man who has to look in the mirror every day I know when something turns ugly, so hope to avoid it on my back. At least one side of me needs to look pretty.
At any rate I'll be more into it tomorrow. Just a few posts today.

Liberal SCOTUS Justices Knew They Were Courting an Assassination over Dobbs Delay
Timothy Birdnow
Mollie
@MZHemingway
!!Breyer, Kagan, Sotomayor intentionally delayed the landmark Dobbs decision for months by slow-walking their dissent, even as the left engaged in violent protests, assassination attempts, and daily protests against Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Barrett and their families.
This while violent protests were raging across the country over the matter.
The Conservative Justices, including John Roberts, begged the liberals to complete their opinions so the case would be closed and they refused to move on them - no doubt hoping one of the Justices would be assassinated and the case's outcome thrown into doubt.
They did not complete their dissents until June 22 of 2022, two weeks after the assassination attempt on Brett Kavanaugh.
The Left has gone stark-raving mad and so too have "liberals" who used to be at least willing to avoid such things and play by the rules. It's odd that several members of the highest court in the land, whose job it is to enforce the rules, would help those who break them, but that is where we are today.
America isn't going to survive unless there is some drastic thing that finally puts the Left in it's place. Not sure what that would be but it would require an act of God I fear. They no longer listen to reason and no longer set any limits for themselves.

MTG Shows Her Inner Quixote
Timothy Birdnow
Oh? Someone should ask Corey Comperatore. Oh, wait, he's dead.
You can hear the little bird as it pops out of MTG's head every hour.
Or does Mad Marj think they hired actors to play a man getting killed on camera and then faked all the data on him and hired actors to play his grief-stricken family?
Thank God that woman is gone from government service. She turned out to be a complete nutjob.
Here's what Trisha Hope, a fellow traveler kook, tries to claim about it:
"Since the attempt on his life, Trump has show no interest in investigating what really happened. He never mentions it, it’s as if it never happened, except when he tells us, he took a bullet for us. As for Corey Comperatore, he was used in this plot, someone had to die otherwise, it would have been much easier to claim it was a HOAX,”
"They killed Corey, likely because he was truly a real life hero, one people would rally behind and defend passionately, as they should. Then to top it off, they used Corey to their benefit at the convention.
So they SHOT a man right behind Trump just to make it seem believable? Come on; even a top sharpshooter wouldn't take that risk - he might have accidentally hit Trump.
And this business about Trump not talking about it, why would he? Trump is astute enough to know this doesn't have a lot of long-term political benefit for him. After a while it's just boring and if Trump knows nothing else it's that you don't bore the public.
When Hopeless says the widow and children want answers she fails to say what they actually think - just that they want answers. OF COURSE they do; they want to know why it happened and we'll never know because there probably WAS a plot but not in the way MTG or Hope think but in the Secret Service and to uncover it you cannot talk about it. The plot was AGAINST President Trump, not to stage a murder attempt and murder a guy to do it.
Ultimately all these people like Hope or MTG want is their fifteen minutes of fame to last a little longer and they don't care how ridiculous they have to appear to do so.

Sea Level SINKAGE
Timothy Birdnow
The sea level isn't rising so much as the
river deltas are sinkinga and it has nothing to do with atmospheric carbon dioxide.
Years ago I wrote a blogpost for American Thinker criticizing Michael Mann's then-latest work where he measured the sea level along a river delta marsh and concluded sea level rise had drastically increased. I pointed all this out then about the North Carolina area he chose.
Levees keep rivers from spreading out into the marshlands in these deltas, leading to land loss as the mud coming down those rivers just washes out to sea rather than replenishes the wetlands along the coast. The end result is that coastland erodes away and washes out to sea.
Also, since many large cities and vacation areas have grown in such regions and require fresh water pumping has led to the land sinking as the water that the land floated on was no longer there as fill.
No, this delta sinking has nothing to do with carbon-dioxide driven warming but it DOES have to do with human activity. And how much of the claims of sea level rise are actually just sea level sinkage?

Study Shows Covid Restrictions Worthless
Timothy Birdnow
A huge Danish study
disproves Fauci and the CDC, showing masking and the other restrictions did nothing to help keep the Covid virus from spreading.
We all knew this but the science is now showing it to be true.
Of course it was never about the public health but about driving Trump from office and conditioning the public to meekly accept what the authorities ordered.

Are World Leaders Possessed?
Timothy Birdnow
Here is a rather lengthy essay asking the question "are world leaders demonically possessed" and answering in the affirmative. The author look at many ancient ideas about possession and shows how the concept has been at the forefront of world leadership through most of history - and that it is present more than ever now. It's a fascinating read.
And I agree; I could well have written this myself.
We have been in a spiritual war for all of human history and it is reaching a crescendo now. We know how it will end; with the human race almost losing their lives and with a final victory by Christ to save us. Oh,, and we'll lose our free will by and large as a result of our misuse of it.
But even if you don't believe in Jesus or even in God you can still walk away with some insights from this article. Evil, and with that I include Leftism that so infects our modern thinking, is almost like a disease, something you catch without wanting it. Like the Dark Side of the Force in Star Wars, once down the dark path you will walk forever. It IS a disease that causes a kind of brain damage, although not physical damage. I suspect one day we will find the key that is unlocking our minds to this insanity and maybe even be able to cure it. But for now we are facing a pandemic of Leftism and most can't see the cause. Yes, environmental factors play a big role. But not enough, it seems to me. It's almost like catching genital herpes or something; a dabbling with the Left leaves you itchy and sore.
But I would agree; this is a spiritual warfare and we are not fighting against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, thrones and dominions. It is something smarter and stronger than are we, and leaving the door cracked open lets these dark and terrible forces consumer us.
Anyway it's a great read; do take the time.

Out of Context?

I'm sorry but Pope Leo is an American and he has to know how the media operates.
Leo has come out renouncing claims by the media that he was attacking President Trump when calling out tyrants. He was speaking about Cameroon while in Cameroon.
But he had to know this would be taken this way. He's not a stupid man.
This is just how Pope Francis would have done it; the passive aggression which would be denied when there was pushback.
Notice he didn't speak of warlords or other things to identify what he is addressing.
The Red State writer may have been buffaloed by not the Aviary readers!

pack the Court when they get power to do so (along with some other dirty tricks to gain unlimited power, like statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.) and so the New York Times is setting the stage for it by making up faux scandals involving SCOTUS to justify "reform". This reform will greatly benefit the Democratic Party, naturally.
(I wonder if Carville's parent's were brother and sister. Maybe Ilhan Omar has that much in common with the elder Carvilles.)
The NY Times, based ENTIRELY on anonymous sources, has it's panties in a bunch over an alleged memo creating a "shadow docket" which is nothing of the sort - it's just that with SCOTUS deliberations being plagued by multiple leaks to the media to benefit the Democrats and hurt the Trump administration John Roberts took prudent steps to plug them and in some cases is having private debates over sensitive issues so as not to alert whoever it is who has been leaking and letting them continue to break the law.
It's not like SCOTUS hasn't always done it this way, just that Roberts has ramped it up a bit. There has always been private debate among Justices.
The comic book paper The New York Times was particularly angry about emergency orders issued without full debate. They gnaw their tongues over this:
Emergency orders based on abbreviated briefing and almost no deliberation have now become commonplace, notably in cases arising from challenges to presidential actions. Critics call this new way of doing business the "shadow docket.”
This is primarily done when an emergency stay of a lower court ruling is needed and the full SCOTUS debate and docket is impractical. For instance, if a judge should issue an order stating Trump had to stop bombing Iran the President would appeal to SCOTUS and there would likely be a stay on the lower court order without a full debate in SCOTUS because of the pressures of time.
And whose fault is that? The Democrats have been using the courts to block every and any Trump actions whatsoever, and most of them are ridiculous and have been shot down, either by superior courts or by SCOTUS. The Democrats have used the old Cloward-Piven tactic of overloading the system. So how do you "fix" an overloaded system?
Just as Cloward and Piven suggested - you offer a reform that greatly benefits you. As Saul Alinsky said, you must have a constructive alternative.
And that would be...drumroll please...MORE JUSTICES!
Of course more Justices would fix nothing - it would make the Courts less responsive and not more, because it would mean more people to shepherd into line. It would slow things down. But the Democrats could sell this to the public based on the backlog, a backlog they themselves created.
This is how their minds work. Create a liberal "solution" to a problem and when it fails create an even worse "solution" and all the while it benefits them politically.
Obamacare was a prime example. They complained about inefficiency and high prices in medicine so created Obamacare with the intention that it fail so they could get what they REALLY wanted - socialized medicine. Obamacare destroyed most private plans and forced a lot of people onto the exchange (I know; I lost my employer-based care and had to go on Obamacare, which cost me a lot more and limited my services quite a bit). They had created the problem in the first place. Roosevelt raised taxes so high employers started offering healthcare coverage as a way around the tax. Then when this drove the costs up Medicare was introduced which drove the costs up quite a bit more, and Ted Kennedy wrote the bill creating HMO's, a most-hated entity, which drove the cost up. Then their solution was to create Obamacare, which was supposed to act as a stepping stone to true Engsoc style socialized medicine.
It hasn't happened yet but it will. An amazing number of people now believe healthcare under socialized medicine is better than what we have in America and they point to places like Mexico or Cuba or Canada as "proof". When you point out that anyone needing quick treatment comes here to receive it they simply deny that. I've had many arguments about that in recent days on Facebook.
At any rate, this is what they are doing now with SCOTUS; they are delegitimizing it and trying to gum up the works so they can hijack the whole branch of government. They have long understood the power of the judiciary and have employed it as a weapon for generations now. We took SCOTUS away from them only by sheer luck; they want it back, and want to make their control permanent.
If they knew we would have, say, the next three presidents and enough Senators to get those president's nominees through I assure you they would be fighting for the status quo.
As the Red State article points out:
- And in the NYT's world, this is beyond the pale. The paper further claims that Chief Justice Roberts has allowed this use of shadow docket methodology to run amok, firing off emergency rulings instead of going through the court's hallowed deliberative judicial process.
Again, whose fault is that? The Times is mad that SCOTUS used this method to block Obama and Biden and to side with Trump. But they would have anyway if time had permitted. Oh, and who cares about the making of the sausage anyway? How does the public debate impact the outcome? All it is is a way to try to put pressure on the Justices (Amy Coney Barrett in particular comes to mind).
The author if this Redstate article does a fine job, don't get me wrong, but I fear she does not understand there is a plot afoot to justify packing the Court when the Democrats obtain power and this is what the New York Times is working to set the stage for now. They are now looking for scandals - any scandals they can manufacture - to justify major reforms of the Supreme Court. Remember "vacationgate" where they went after Clarence Thomas and others for taking vacations paid for by friends? They tried to use this to push for "ethics reform" which would place an ethical code created BY CONGRESS on the Court, something wildly unconstitutional as the Court is a coequal branch of government and sets it's own rules. This is another "scandal" they have spun from cotton candy, and there will be more until the Demcrats take power and they have the votes to "reform" the Court. (One wonders what will happen if the Court refuses to let them do this; how will Congress and the President force their will on SCOTUS? Will they send U.S. Marshalls or the FBI to arrest John Roberts?)
I would add it's been tried before. On March 9, 1937 President Roosevelt argued in one of his "fireside chats":
"Can it be said that full justice is achieved when a court is forced by the sheer necessity of its business to decline, without even an explanation, to hear 87% of the cases presented by private litigants?"
He wanted to pack the courts and his Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of that same year was the scheme he wanted whereby he would add up to six new Justices. And he would get to do this when a justice over normal retirement age refused to step down.
The bill ultimately failed because members of Roosevelt's own party believed it unconstitutional and would not support it. That won't happen today, with the radicalization of the Donkeys.
This is a plot, make no mistake, and it has a specific goal that would grant absolute power to the Democratic Party.

The Dog Ate My Tax Return
Timothy Birdnow
Lame-o!
She may as well have said "the dog ate my tax return".
Doesn't she hire accountants to do this the right way? I guess she's hired her brother/husband who probably can't read English or anything else.
The walls are closing in on the comly Madame Omar. I sure hope she doesn't wriggle out of all this; she needs to be kicked out of Congress and hopefully deported back to Somalia where she belongs.
I wonder if her husband's non-existant winery got eaten by the dog too? Oh wait; Muslims hate dogs, don't they!

Iran was a Problem Until Trump
Timothy Birdnow
"Iran's nuclear program is galloping forward. It is enriching at higher levels, 20% even 60% in small cases, it's using more advanced centrifuges. We're now down, based on published reports, to a few months. If this continues, if they continue to enrich at the levels and in the ways that they're doing, it will get down eventually to a few weeks. So that is a concrete problem. We have an interest in putting that nuclear problem back in the box, because an Iran with a nuclear weapon, or with the ability to produce fissile material on very short notice to get one, is an Iran that's going to be an even worse actor."
Former Secretary of State Anthony Blinken 2021
"Iran, the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism, has directly or by hiring criminals, mounted assassination attempts against dissonance and high ranking current and former US officials, including right here on American soil."
Former FBI Director Christopher Wray, 2023
So the Democrats knew there was a big problem and, while refusing to take action themselves, are now attacking President Trump for doing the very thing they knew needed to be done but feared to do.
Or are they claiming Joe Biden fixed the problem with visualization techniques?
